Silly Bandz for Sun Protection????

How much skin protection can a “silly” Silly Bandz do for a person as far as protecting them from the sun?
More than you think.
Now there are UVSunSense Wristbands that can be used as sensors that will let you know when you’ve had too much sun exposure for the day. And no, it doesn’t talk.
So how does it work?
All you have to do is apply your sunscreen as normal, and also apply it to the wristband. As your outside adventures continue, the band will change color when it’s time for you to reapply sunscreen.
Pretty cool, huh?
The wristbands work on land as well as in water (pool, beach water, shower).
Purchase a pack of seven today from Amazon for $6.98!
And if you don’t have any Silly Bandz, you can just hang out by the shaded areas at Lake St. James Place Apartments!

Dad’s Favorite Store

All kids know that there’s one store in the whole wide world that your dad can’t get enough of. Because my dad is a hands-on “kinda” guy, Lowe’s was always his favorite place to go.
And every time he went to the store, he would NEVER come back empty handed. Plywood, screw drivers, tool boxes, chain saws– they all seemed to call his name from the different departments.
Lucky for my mom and me, the mall was right across the street. She would stay at Lowe’s long enough to pick out a few plants, but after that, we were off to the department stores!
So when you’re doing your Father’s Day shopping this year, think of his favorite store, and present him with something from the heart, and with his hobbies in mind.

Upgrade Your Place For Less

I’m getting into the mood of Spring, therefore, my apartment needs
to be in “spring” order. Therefore, I’ve been looking for some tips on what to do and how to do it. I found some easy ways to upgrade the look of my home by using things that I already have. Here’s three things you can try, too:
Cover Boxes With Wrapping Paper
“You can do better than those ho-hum bins from the office-supply store. Turn plain boxes (such as shoe or checkbook boxes) into pretty storage containers with excess wrapping paper, then label them with old gift tags. You can use them as gift boxes, too.”
Hang Photos and Artwork on One Wall
“Your family pictures have more impact when they’re grouped together. A word to the wise: Before you do any hanging, arrange the pieces on the floor to get a sense of how they’ll look on the wall. And never mind if the frames don’t match.”
Plant Herbs in Florist’s Vases
“You’ve got them?stacked up under the sink, probably?so make use of them. Plant small potted herbs in vessels of various heights (add a layer of pebbles at the bottom of each for drainage). Wrap them in a heavy-stock paper, secure with twine, and label.”

So what will you do to upgrade your place?

3D TV: Will You Buy?
March 26, 2010 by spalmer

Okay, this is my first time hearing about 3D televisions. Apparently, they are being sold in regular stores now. While I have yet to see one in a Best Buy, I’m wondering if these televisions are really worth it. If you don’t know much about them, here’s three things I found on yahoo that you may need to know:
1. It looks pretty cool.
“The results of our preliminary tests of two Samsung LCD sets and a Panasonic plasma TV have been impressive. The high-definition, 1080p images on these TVs have excellent three-dimensional depth, color, and detail — especially with animated content-creating a compelling and realistic three-dimensional experience. You’ll be ducking when that Frisbee comes flying toward you!”
2. You have to have 3D glasses.
“Without glasses, you’ll see blurry double images. These aren’t the old-fashioned cardboard glasses you used to get at movie theaters, but high-tech active LCD shutter glasses. You can put them over your regular specs, though some might find this uncomfortable. You get one or two pairs of glasses with some 3D TVs, but other sets don’t include any. Expect to pay about $150 for each pair of glasses, at least initially.”
3. A 3D TV does more than the name says.
“It functions like any standard TV with regular programs, and shifts into 3D mode when it detects 3D content. You don’t have to wear glasses to watch regular programming.”
What do you think? Will you buy one?
Please, No Gift Cards This Year
While gift cards may be easy to pick up, your intended recipient may not be that excited to receive them. We say, give cash instead, there’s no expiration, no hidden fees and its good EVERYWHERE. Many people forget they have them, don’t shop at the store intended, lose them, misplace them or worse of all let them expire at full value. Six percent of Americans–some 13.5 million consumers–continue to carry debt from last winter’s holiday season. For those folks, it’s time to stop shopping and switch to gifts that don’t cost money So if you have the gift giving woes this year, give CASH.
Will you be giving gift cards this year? Do you like receiving them?
Shopping For Your Kid Brother?
Shopping for anyone can be a pain, although luckily, I think I do pretty good on finding stuff for my brothers. Maybe it’s different when the brother in question is a teenager? Either way, BuzzSugar.com has put together some suggestions for holiday shopping for just such a hard-to-gift young man. It’s not a huge list, but it works as a launch pad if you don’t know where to start. Some people resort to gift cards, but personally, I’d rather try to find an actual present. How does your family handle holiday shopping and birthday gifts?
