3D TV: Will You Buy?

3dOkay, this is my first time hearing about 3D televisions. Apparently, they are being sold in regular stores now. While I have yet to see one in a Best Buy, I’m wondering if these televisions are really worth it. If you don’t know much about them, here’s three things I found on yahoo that you may need to know:

1. It looks pretty cool.

“The results of our preliminary tests of two Samsung LCD sets and a Panasonic plasma TV have been impressive. The high-definition, 1080p images on these TVs have excellent three-dimensional depth, color, and detail — especially with animated content-creating a compelling and realistic three-dimensional experience. You’ll be ducking when that Frisbee comes flying toward you!”

2. You have to have 3D glasses.

“Without glasses, you’ll see blurry double images. These aren’t the old-fashioned cardboard glasses you used to get at movie theaters, but high-tech active LCD shutter glasses. You can put them over your regular specs, though some might find this uncomfortable. You get one or two pairs of glasses with some 3D TVs, but other sets don’t include any. Expect to pay about $150 for each pair of glasses, at least initially.”

3. A 3D TV does more than the name says.

“It functions like any standard TV with regular programs, and shifts into 3D mode when it detects 3D content. You don’t have to wear glasses to watch regular programming.”

What do you think? Will you buy one?

Do you remember that episode?? Too funny!

Baby Gives the Evil Eye

So we’ve seen a baby laugh, but have you ever seen one laugh and follow it up with an evil look?  My cousin sent me this video clip starring a baby who can switch his smile to a serious face in seconds. Take a look:

Hilarious, right?  He sort of reminds me of Gary Coleman, you know, when he used to drop his head and say “What u talking ’bout Willis?”

An “Avatar” Novel in the Making

avatarJames Cameron has struck again. He confirmed that he is planning to write a novel based on his hit movie “Avatar.” Talk about an all-around money making machine. The book will supposedly bring more imagery than the film (weird, right?) and will go into more depth about the Sci-fi world.

Cameron had to come out with his secret about the book (if it was ever a secret) because rumors were spreading across the Internet about it.

For those of you who haven’t seen the movie yet, let me set the scene for you: The movie takes place on moon called Pandora that orbits around Planet Polyphemus. That’s all I’ll give you for now.
Maybe there’ll be rumors of a sequel soon.

Simon Cowell Will Choose Artists for Haiti Song

simonSimon Cowell, American Idol’s “Idol” judge, has agreed to help in the Haitian relief efforts after being asked by the British Prime Minister Gordon Brown.  To do this, Cowell will produce a charity single within 10 days.

So who does Simon C. have in mind for a collabo?  Although not written in stone yet, expected artists to appear on the song are Susan Boyle, Leona Lewis and Cheryl Cole (to name a few).

Charity singles have been around for years.  Remember “We Are The World?” This song showed how some of the biggest singers came together to promote a word of hope to the less fortunate around the world.  What better way to show our dedication again by writing a charity song?

The goal of the song is to raise as much money as possible, and the government has agreed to exempt the single from sales tax.

With Simon’s expertise and the vocals of some of the best singers around, the combination is destined to be successful, and I’m  sure the song will be something to remember.

James Cameron’s new film Avatar, to be released December 18, 2009, is a breakthrough in 3D filming technology and CGI. If you’ve been waiting for a film to take your breath away with incredible imagery, then wait no longer. Avatar utilizes a new type of 3D digital filming. No longer is there a funky red/blue color shift. No, if you take off your 3D glasses, the movie looks as normal as any other. It’s only when you put on the glasses that you realize the difference. So skip all that pesky holiday shopping and go for the latest James Cameron flick. You’ll be glad you did.
