Here are seven easy steps to reduce your heating bill this winter:

  1. Use heavy drapes over your windows.
  2. Put draft stoppers under the outside doors.
  3. Put plastic over your drafty windows.
  4. Turn your thermostat to 55-65 degrees at night at about 65 degrees during the day.
  5. Close off any unused rooms and use alternate heat when you use said rooms.
  6. Put weather-stripping and caulk around doors and windows.
  7. Lower the thermostat on your water heater.
